The local community in Stranraer has been producing a Place Plan for Stranraer - a vision for the next decade.
The top priority of the local community is the East Pier... potentially creating an event space... bringing it back into community use.
Recently there's been action on the East Pier (the former Stena Terminal at Port Rodie in Stranraer). A haulage company called Manfreight Ltd has put forward a licence application to the Vehicle Operations Service Agency to request authorisation to use the East Pier for 50 Heavy Goods Vehicles (HGVs) and 20 Trailers.
Since thousands took part in the Place Plan process and 600 people voted the East Pier as their top priority, we want to bring this application to the attention of local people.
We are asking you to support or object to the application for these lorries to use the East Pier.
Vote NOW and we will submit the outcome of votes to The Traffic Commission & Manfreight on the locals' behalf. This survey closes on 27th August.
To make a formal representation you will need to be an owner or occupier within the vicinity of the site and will need to send a signed letter to both The Traffic Commissioner, Hillcrest House, 386 Harehills Lane, Leeds, LS9 6NF and Manfreight Ltd, Unit 4, 2A Carn Court Road, Portadown, BT63 5YX. Representation must be made by 31st August 2023.
See more about making representation to the Traffic Commissioner here.
We will share results with participants, the Traffic Commissioner and Manfreight at the same time.
We will keep the community updated with the progress of the licence application by posting the outcome on this webiste as soon as we know about it.
